30 Years

SMN Accountants is celebrating its 30th Anniversary this year! Director Shauna Niland joined Gordon Tolcher, a local accountant with over 30 years of experience, and founded Tolcher Niland in 1992. Originally located on Dayboro Road at Petrie, the practice moved locations twice before finding its current home at Baldwin Street in 1996. Despite the change of names and offices, some of Gordon’s original clients from over 40 years ago are still with SMN Accountants to this day. 

From the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax to online lodging of tax returns, we have provided services and information to our clients on some of the most significant tax reform Australia has ever seen. Gone are the days of paper receipts, our Client Portal and online Resources allow for a streamlined and user friendly experience. These technological enhancements have been driven by the next generation of SMN Accountants, Shauna’s son Lachlan, who joined the team in 2020. 

As we take a moment to reflect on a fabulous 30 years of service to our loyal clients and the local community, it is with great excitement and anticipation that we look forward to continuing our work for many years to come.

30 years have slipped by, it is extraordinary. It’s been hard work, but so rewarding. 

I am so proud of SMN Accountants.  Many thanks to my staff over all these years and thankyou to my wonderful clients too.  Gosh I have met so many great people.  It’s been a great ride, and I don’t plan on hopping off anytime soon!
